MODULE 1
Introduction to BPM Cycling
Welcome to Module 1: Introduction to BPM Cycling. Here, you will master the history, science, and music foundations vital for professional success.

History of BPM Cycling®
BPM Cycling® was born from a simple idea: when music and movement are perfectly synced, riders can push harder, stay safer, and feel more connected to the ride. What started as a small experiment in beat-based indoor cycling evolved into a full methodology that blends science, coaching, and music structure. Over years of teaching, testing, and refining, BPM Cycling® developed clear systems for using tempo, phrasing, and musical energy to shape every part of class design—from warm-up to peak efforts to recovery. Today, it serves as the foundation for KRU’s certification path, giving instructors a shared language and framework to create powerful, consistent, and creative rides. As you move through this module, you’ll see how BPM Cycling® reshaped the way instructors think about playlists, profiles, and performance—turning music from background noise into the true engine of the experience.
Meet Your Kru-Z-Directors

“I recognized at a very early stage that indoor cycling had an opportunity to take on a virtual experience combined with safe and effective moves that celebrate the beat of music. It is a great feeling to be able to share this with both instructors and cycling enthusiasts.”
